กำนัน
n. an elder of a village, the village magistrate, the headman of a group of village, the headman of a commune, one who acts as a guardian of, or conciliator between members of his community, headman of a tambon (ตำบล) or political district (refers to specifically to Kamnan Coem in this novel).
